About Transa

For more than 45 years, Transa Backpacking has been the competence centre for high-quality travel and outdoor equipment. Transa lives «Raus. Aber richtig.» (Outside. But properly.) and advises you on your adventures in Switzerland and abroad.

Around 500 employees share their knowledge and experience in advising you on durable and sustainable products that suit you. We are organized in circles and use the patterns of Sociocracy 3.0 – this means that employees are assigned according to their skills.

The centrally located stores in Basel, Bern, Lausanne, Lucerne, St. Gallen, Vevey, Winterthur and Zurich, as well as the Yosemite station shop in Zermatt, are the starting point for adventures in urbanity. The outlet stores in Zurich and Berne offer durable and qualitative products at a lower price. Around 42,000 products from about 550 brands make up the range. If products should ever get damaged, we take care of it in our repair shop in Zurich Altstetten.

Our stores in Berne and Zurich offer a wide range of books in the travel literature section. Transa is Orell Füssli's largest supplier of travel books. Orell Füssli also operates the bookshops in Berne and Zurich.
