ReBolting coordinates the work and communication of volunteers who take on the job of refurbishing climbing routes. This important work helps keeps climbers safe. Most bolts on climbing routes and in climbing gardens were fitted last century, and they can rust and lose their holding power. That means these routes are no longer safe for climbers. The ReBolting association tackles this problem by sustainably refurbishing old routes in the cantons of Bern, Fribourg, Solothurn and Valais. Since ReBolting was established, members have refurbished over 150 routes in part or in full and fitted 1,500 bolts in climbing gardens and multi-pitch routes.
