AKU, the name comes from an easy-to-use spirit from Easter Island who loves and protects the earth. The spirit of shoemaking still forms the roots of the traditional company AKU, which was founded in 1985 by Galliano Bordin and specializes in mountaineering boots of the very highest quality. The highly respected Italian tradition of craftsmanship is reflected in the passion and dedication with which each product is made.

Today the company owns two factories: one in Italy, Montebelluna, which is a manufacturer of trekking and mountaineering shoes, and one in Romania, Cluj Napoca, where the company has had a branch since 2000. Research into new technologies, the development of top models and the traditional production of the AKU trekking and outdoor footwear collection are still based at the headquarters in Montebelluna / Treviso. The unique and exclusive design has earned the company a leading position in terms of fit and comfort - even for highly technical shoes.

AKU shoes are made especially for people who are at home outdoors, work in the open air or simply enjoy spending their recreation in nature. From the very beginning, the mountains have been AKU's number one source of inspiration.
