In 2009, the two designers Jonathan Cedar and Alec Drummond founded BioLite in New York. They wanted sustainable energy everywhere and for all! Their technology: converting heat generated by wood into energy. It all started with the development of the CampStove. It can be used to burn pine cones or branches for cooking. At the same time, electronic devices, such as a cell phone, can be charged. Practical for any outdoor adventure. The company continues to develop and is always working on new ideas. A barbecue attachment and a kettle complete the range. However, when the friends tested their first camping stove in a few households in Myanmar, it became clear that a larger stove was needed. That was the birth of the HomeStove and the BioLite company. The two designers needed a business plan to achieve their goals. Further inventions such as camping lights and a solar panel series followed. The company's products have won various awards, such as the Reddot Design Award and the ISPO Brand New Accessories Award.
