In 1938, the brothers Egidio and Nanni Cressi began to manufacture the first diving masks and harpoons by hand: The foundation stone for the world's oldest company for scuba diving equipment was laid.
In 1943, the first Cressi diving mask was made by hand under the skillful guidance of the two brothers. Its name: Sirena. The company started out small, but was not officially founded in Genoa until 1946. In 1950, the time had come: Cressi became an international company that exported its products all over the world. Another milestone for Cressi soon followed: the Pinocchio diving mask (manufactured in 1952) was the first mask with its own nose pocket that enabled pressure equalization. Over the years, the company launched more and more new products, such as the first buoyancy jacket. At the beginning of the 1990s, Cressi products such as swimming goggles, diving goggles, snorkeling goggles, flippers and dry snorkels are sold in over 90 countries worldwide.
Another great Cressi world patent is the Big Eyes from the year 2000, the first diving mask with rising lenses in an upside-down teardrop shape has been invented! This invention is so interesting because it gives the diver a complete overview of all the equipment. It was to become the most copied mask in the world - a welcome confirmation of Cressi's lead in the design of its products.
Today, the company is still family-owned and continues to operate with the same passion as 60 years ago, when brothers Egidio and Nanni Cressi began their pioneering work.
