Kevin Brown, founder of the FrictionLabs brand, was faced with a problem: his chalk was sold out! He bought another one, but it felt greasy and slippery - Kevin had no chance in his project. At home, he asked his wife, a geologist, about chalk. She introduced Kevin to a lab technician friend of hers. Kevin bought every type of chalk he could find and had it all tested in the lab. The results shocked him: all the products contained filler and drier. The purity ranged from 25 to 60 percent. Kevin consulted a materials scientist. He wanted pure, pharmaceutical-grade magnesium carbonate. The two tinkered and developed the ideal particle profile, the one that would adhere the longest. So Kevin started producing FrictionLabs Chalk in the basement of his house. Several years later, he still receives a lot of positive customer feedback. FrictionLabs sells its chalk in 23 countries and helps numerous climbers to successfully achieve their goals.
