Garmin was founded in 1989 by Gary Burrell and Dr. Min Kao. The name is made up of Gar and Min from their respective first names: Garmin. Today, Garmin is the global market leader in GPS navigation with 10,000 employees and locations in the USA, Taiwan and Europe.

The entire product process from design, development, production, marketing and warehousing is handled internally at the various locations. This enables Garmin to ensure the high quality of its products while at the same time being able to react quickly to the constantly changing market.
