Henrik Nielsen has always stood for clear lines, quality and simplicity. Ecology is also close to his heart. Nielsen, an uncompromising inventor, was disappointed by the R&D policies of large corporations. He regretted their fear of risk and realized that their decision-makers were unwilling to put their money on risk. He therefore decided to move to Fontainebleau with his family and founded his own company in 2000. Nielsen also sells innovations under license and goes to the end of his credos. Positive and combative, he knows how to motivate his team on a daily basis to carry out his projects successfully. Initially surrounded only by a project manager and a designer, Henrik created Handpresso, a spin-off of Nielsen Innovation, in April 2006. Handpresso is a good illustration that it is possible to create more efficient products with a few selected employees. With its portable espresso machines, Handpresso revolutionizes the espresso market to the delight of its inventor. It only takes two years from the original idea to the market launch of the Handpresso Wild (now the Handpresso Pump), an innovative breakthrough in portable espresso. As a great espresso lover and a frequent traveler, Nielsen wanted to be able to travel with an espresso machine. Against the electricity of the best-known brands, he sought simplicity and, together with his R&E team, managed to achieve a pressure of 16 bar manually. This enabled him to prepare a delicious espresso on a par with the best espresso machines. With the Handpresso Wild, which was officially launched at the Milan trade fair in January 2008, Handpresso became the undisputed market leader in portable espresso. Handpresso now offers a wide range of innovative products within the frame of the portable espresso machine concept. The products are designed to convey freedom, mobility, conviviality and environmental friendliness (the espresso machine is completely manual, no electricity is required). Handpresso works with the big coffee companies. After the espresso-only experience, the company extended its reach to all coffee fans. The range of portable machines therefore also includes devices for making coffee. Distributed in more than 50 countries, Handpresso machines are now used by 300,000 users and brand enthusiasts worldwide. The original and stylish design has been recognized in France and worldwide and Handpresso has won seven major international design awards, including the IF 08 in Germany, l'Observeur 08 in France, Formland 2008 in Denmark and Going Green 2009 in the USA.
