Heat it

Outdoor adventures and mosquito bites are inextricably linked. Where there is nature, there are mosquitoes. The small insects need the proteins in our blood to reproduce, which is why the big scratching begins, especially in the hot summer months. Fortunately, however, there is an effective treatment that helps to relieve the itching: heat. But where do you get the heat from when you're straight out in the wilderness? With this in mind, start-up Kamedi GmbH has developed an ingenious solution that alleviates the symptoms of mosquito bites in just a few seconds. If a mosquito bites, the small gadget heat it® is simply plugged into the smartphone. After a short heating up to 51 °C, the contact surface of heat it® is placed on the affected skin area. The scientifically proven principle of hyperthermia effectively reduces itching and pain at the puncture site. The idea for heat it® came to the four founders during a student competition in 2016. It was the height of summer and one mosquito followed the next. Annoyed by the mosquito bites, the founders tried out the treatment using concentrated heat - and were delighted with the effect. But there were no suitable compact products that were easy to take with them when hiking, cycling, camping and on other outdoor adventures. So the engineering students quickly developed one themselves and launched heat it®, an innovative medical product on the market. heat it® can be conveniently carried as a pendant on a key or in a backpack. If a mosquito has filled its stomach, the gadget is plugged into the charging port of the cell phone and controlled via the corresponding app.
