With almost 150 years of company history, C. Jul. Herbertz looks back on a long tradition in the manufacture and distribution of cutting tools. In 1868, Carl Julius Herbertz founded the company in the blade town of Solingen, which now enjoys an excellent reputation far beyond Germany's borders. Today, the family business is run by the fifth generation of the family together with Thomas Venjakob through the owner Ulrich Hartkopf, thus continuing a long family history.
A great-great-grandfather was a blade grinder, a great-grandfather a knife maker, other ancestors up to the grandfather and father were knife merchants. However, it was his father, Klaus Hartkopf, who laid the foundations for today's flourishing company. He carefully but steadily rebuilt the company after the Second World War and acquired a growing customer base, initially in southern Germany and later in all other areas of Germany and other European countries. Hard to imagine today, in the late 1940s he traveled to customers by motorcycle ;- there was no money for a car. Ulrich Hartkopf, now the sole owner, has been consistently expanding the company C. Jul. Herbertz and, with his long-standing staff (many employees have been with the company for over 20 years), can rely on a high mass of experience and know-how.
According to the motto: "There is nothing that cannot be improved", Herbertz pays particular attention to quality and service. Thanks to the continuous expansion of the product range, C. Jul. Herbertz is now one of Europe's leading suppliers of sport, recreation, hunting and collector's knives, proving its expertise in all aspects of cutting tools. In addition to the traditional knife business, Herbertz has expanded its range to include sports and leisure articles. It all started with archery - today Herbertz stocks crossbows, darts, billiard articles, measuring instruments, fishing and hunting accessories, Mag-Lite, LED lamps, binoculars, night vision devices, sunglasses, drinking and pocket flasks. The special service also includes the free knife club catalog, in which interested knife enthusiasts can obtain comprehensive information about trends and new products. Herbertz gladly accepts suggestions and ideas for improvement. For Herbertz, an accommodating customer service is not just an empty word, but a matter of course.
