The Swiss cutlery company Klötzli in Burgdorf is run by siblings Nina and Samuel, now in the sixth generation. They design outdoor knives with great attention to detail and produce them mainly by hand. Klötzli knives have been around since the 1840s. This makes the company the älst Swiss knife manufacturer with its own production facilities.
The production is diverse. The knives from Klötzli include:
The family business Klötzli Messer operates two shops in Burgdorf and Bern. A small company museum in Burgdorf tells the story of Klötzli Messer, the family and the craft itself. It's always worth a visit.
The knives, which both siblings have packaged in a creative and environmentally friendly way, are not the company's only products. There are also various accessories. Among the knives, the integral knives, which are forged from a single piece of steel with wood or horn scales incorporated into the handle, are worth mentioning. The fact that they are made from a single metal blank makes integral knives incredibly stable.
The famous Swiss pocket knives (simply called Swiss pocket knives abroad) are folding knives. The company Klötzli offers these in all conceivable sizes. The smallest fits on the key ring, the largest is a versatile outdoor tool for any situation and application. These folding knives have a locking mechanism that prevents the main blade from accidentally folding in when cutting branches or other work. They are equipped with a number of additional tools for all situations that hikers and mountain sports enthusiasts may encounter. These include can and bottle openers, for example. Some of the blades have a serrated edge, which is of course also available on the integral knives and ensures even better cutting performance. The folding knives are also available with a one-handed opening, which is particularly practical for outdoor use. Klötzli knives are also used for carving or sawing wood and even metal. With a knife from Klötzli, outdoor enthusiasts are ready for any adventure!
