The Knirps brand is known worldwide for the development of the telescopic umbrella and registered a patent for it back in 1934. Since then, the company's reputation has grown steadily, making Knirps one of the leading brands in the umbrella segment. The various models are characterized above all by the fact that they are resistant to overturning and can therefore withstand windy, rainy weather. Thanks to this product characteristic, Knirps umbrellas are a companion for anyone who enjoys being outdoors when hiking, trekking or doing other activities. A special model in the Knirps range is the Knirps X1. This is the smallest pocket umbrella from the former German brand, which fits easily into any backpack. Other popular models include the Ultra Light Manual and Ultra Light Duomatic. With these pocket umbrellas, the manufacturer attaches great importance to a particularly low product weight, which is an advantage straight away for trekking tours lasting several days, bike packing and long hikes. Regardless of weight and size, all Knirps pocket umbrellas offer high quality and professional construction. Each new model is extensively tested by the manufacturer in the wind tunnel before series production and market launch. Only models that pass these tests are later launched on the market for customers.
The founder of the Knirps brand and inventor of the foldable umbrella was Hans Haupt, who was looking for a practical umbrella solution for himself after a war injury. He designed his first model for his own use in 1928 and called it Knirps, from which the company name was later derived. Bremshey & Co, also based in Solingen, quickly recognized the potential of the umbrella and took over series production on behalf of Hans Haupt. Since October 2005, the Knirps brand has been owned by doppler & Co GmbH from Austria. Are you looking for a particularly light, small umbrella for your outdoor activities?
