The name LEKI stands for a very high standard of quality, innovative technology and development. For all sports where poles are needed, LEKI puts quality, functionality and safety first. Sizeable commitment and exchange of experience in the racing sector, with mountain guides in cooperation with dealers and suppliers, as well as permanent further development have led the company to the top of the skiing and touring pole sector, trekking and Nordic walking worldwide. LEKI was the first and so far only pole manufacturer to be certified with the quality and quality seals of TÜV Süd and the Japanese Consumer Product Safety Association (CPSA) due to the high safety standards of its products. The strictest test criteria guarantee the highest quality for these awards. With over 250 patents, LEKI has patented more innovations and patents than almost any other manufacturer in the outdoor and ski industry.
LEKI Lenhart GmbH originated from Karl Lenhart's woodworking business founded in Dettingen/Teck in 1948, which produced wooden letters for bakeries and butchers. It was the founder's personal dissatisfaction that started the unique development of LEKI: Karl Lenhart was an enthusiastic skier, but he was never satisfied with the quality and functionality of the ski poles of the time. So he began to manufacture grips and plates for ski poles himself using his own machinery. These went into series production as early as the 1960s. As Lenhart also had experience in aircraft construction, he knew how to process aluminum and composites. He used these raw materials to produce his first own ski poles and launched them on the market in 1970 under the name LEKI, which stands for the owner and the company headquarters - Lenhart in Kirchheim.
Klaus Lenhart (* May 1, 1955 - April 30, 2012), the youngest son of the founder, was appointed to the management at the age of 19. From 1984, Klaus Lenhart (initially together with his wife) was the sole managing director. After Klaus Lenhart's fatal aerobatics accident, his wife Waltraud Lenhart took over the management of the company in the summer of 2012. LEKI continues to work with passion and highly qualified, experienced employees with many years of experience ;with the aim of producing absolutely top products. The result is intelligently designed products that customers can rely on and enjoy for years to come.
By consistently implementing this philosophy, LEKI Lenhart GmbH has established itself today as the absolute world market leader in the field of poles and glove systems.
