About Light my Fire

"We sell fire" is the motto of the Swedish outdoor manufacturer Light My Fire. The company specializes in making fires. LightMyFire products are developed and produced in Sweden and are practical and stylish. Globetrotters and hobby barbecuers all over the world have taken them to their hearts and the accessories can be used for activities in the wilderness as well as in the city. It all began in 1995, when Swedish founder Michael Odqvist came across the particularly resinous wood of the Montezuma pine in Mexico. The wood chips from the pine were ideal for lighting campfires and so Michael set about marketing the Maya sticks he had discovered. In Sweden, he was initially disillusioned, as few people appreciated his practical and environmentally friendly firelighters, which had already been used by the Mayans. But he did not give up on the subject of fire and developed the Swedish FireSteel, the ultimate fire starter. It immediately became very popular and the great thing about it was that the fire steel worked wonderfully together with the Maya stick. To start a fire, you slowly drag the scraper of the FireSteel over the flint, which creates sparks. First, you use the scraper to grate a few shavings from the Light my Fire Tinder-on-a-Rope. This is a special wood that burns even when wet. This motivated founder Odqvist to produce many more useful products for outdoor use. Light my Fire's best-known and most popular item is the spork. A mixture of spoon and fork, it has become indispensable for many outdoor enthusiasts and is now almost a true classic. It is now available in many bright colors and sizes and over 14 million units have already been sold all over the world. Light my Fire also produces a wide range of outdoor cookware, from plates to drinking cups, as well as practical sets such as the MealKit. All of this is produced in Sweden, except for the kindling, which comes from Mexico, where the Montezuma pine tree grows.
