Mountain Hardwear was founded in 1993 in Richmond, California. A few outdoor freaks, including a handful of Sierra Design employees, with a concentrated load of knowledge and experience had the basic idea of developing 'Performance Elevated' equipment. As enthusiastic outdoor fans and experts in the industry, they were very critical of the tendency of various manufacturers to lower the quality of their products in order to attract new groups of buyers. They opposed this tendency and pushed for the development of new technologies and materials in order to produce outdoor equipment to very high quality standards. The basic idea still characterizes Mountain Hardwear products today. The uncompromising collections show the experience of the founders, their radical thinking and their passion for innovative technologies and advanced products. Today, the range includes clothing, backpacks, tents, sleeping bags and accessories. Mountain Hardwear produces for people who like to spend their time outdoors in nature.
