Odlo was founded in 1946 under the motto "Always one step ahead". A sports-loving Norwegian named Odd Roar Lofterød started the company with a great deal of creativity and courage. The company first produced training pants for figure skaters that offered protection from the cold, and from then on the concept became a complete success. In 1963, the company introduced the first elastic and functional suit made of synthetic Helanca fiber for cross-country skiers and speed skaters. The entire Norwegian national skiing team wore these revolutionary suits at the 1964 Winter Olympics, and by the 1972 Olympic Games in Sapporo, 22 national teams were wearing Odlo sportswear.

In 1986, the company expanded worldwide, one year after Odlo launched the innovative Athletic Clothing System, which offers moisture-regulating, temperature control and protection from the elements thanks to three layers. 1994 saw further diversification, with running and outdoor collections that enable all sportsmen and women to feel comfortable whatever the weather.

A breakthrough in terms of fabric came in 2002 with the development of the Effect by Odlo fiber - the first underwear with anti-odour silver ions was created. In 2006, another high-tech fabric was created: "cubic", the light fabric for all-season underwear. It has a three-dimensional structure and thus enables optimum body temperatures. Today, Odlo offers a market-leading range of clothing for all weathers, with over 550 different products for every athlete. And the future remains exciting for Odlo.
