Palgero breaks new ground: the brown algae becomes the star of a new generation of clothing. Originally, the company supplied nuns and monks with frocks. In search of new customers, company boss Peter Mattis traveled to Greece. Instead of new customers, he found brown algae. In 2016, he made it the basis of his brand for outdoor clothing: Palgero. However, Peter's idea was initially met with rejection. Everyone advised him not to use the algae: difficult to produce, expensive, risky and he didn't even have any knowledge or experience in the outdoor industry. Peter Mattis did not give up. He persisted and overcame the difficulties. He knocked on the door of the industry's biggest names with Palgero, without a workbook and with only two colors in the range. The algae speaks for itself: Palgero won the base layer category at ISPO 2019. A rush ensues, Palgero almost can't produce fast enough. Peter hasn't even done any advertising yet. Peter Mattis conveys an unmistakable message with Palgero: fair production throughout the entire manufacturing process, and in Europe too. It is possible! Peter Mattis says of his brand: "Palgero is the product of a dreamer who became a doer." He runs the company and four people work at Palgero.
