Peak Performance stands for skiing and outdoor clothing that is not only characterized by its individual design, but above all by its multifunctionality. It all started with an idea in a ski lift and the development of functional ski clothing that also looks good. 1986, Åre, a mountain village in the Swedish province of Jämtland. Talented skiers meet to discuss a few things. Stefan Engström is a world-class freestyle skier whose successes include several World Cup victories. Peter Blom, who can also make some nice turns, is editor-in-chief of Sweden's biggest ski magazine. Christer Mårtensson works as an art director and designer, not only on paper but also on the slopes. Jonas Ottosson, former downhill skier and now works in ski sales.

 

What do they all have to do or how do they manage to stay longer and more often in the ski resort they all love so much? Åre, the small mountain village in the heart of the northern Swedish wilderness. Another question that had been on their minds for a long time: why wasn't anyone making clothes that they wanted to wear? Clothing with first-class functionality, combined with a simple and attractive design that is not flashy, but not boring either. It soon became clear that the answer to both questions was Peak Performance. Initially, the quartet's ambitions were limited to making a few items of clothing for themselves and a few friends. Too much to die for, barely enough to live for.

 

In the late 1980s, the market situation changed all that. Extravagance and superficiality were uncool, authenticity and the solid quality of long-lasting products were in demand. It turned out that the composition of the group was an unusually good mix in order to have the right answers to these demands.
