The Pedag International brand stands for quality, sustainability, innovation and well-being. Since the company was founded in 1955, the traditional company Schelchen GmbH has earned this reputation with high-quality insoles, footbeds, shoe care products, shoelaces and shoe shapers. From 1955, Hartmut Schelchen sold lambskin soles and leather dyes. In 1965, he started his own production of the first insoles in a former cowshed in Berlin-Charlottenburg. Just four years later, Hartmut Schelchen was already exporting his products abroad. In 1971, the demand for high-quality insoles and shoe care products was so great that the company left Berlin-Charlottenburg and moved to larger premises in Berlin-Schöneberg.
In 1975, HS Schuhbedarf became the Pedag International brand - derived from the Latin word pedes - the foot. With the aim of promoting natural and healthy walking, wellness became the basis of the Pedag brand's mission statement in 1987. Schelchen GmbH continued to expand and took the opportunity to move to the Berlin area after the historic fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. In 1993, the family business was able to move into its new production facility. In Königs Wusterhausen in Brandenburg, just 30 minutes from the city of Berlin, Schelchen GmbH continues to write its success story. Every day, 170 employees work to manufacture high-quality products that help keep feet healthy.
