"In the mountains you find your true self"
The Dolomites are both an inspiration and a passion for the Italian company Salewa. Salewa masters the development of equipment that breaks new ground with experience, a wealth of ideas and innovative standards. Tradition combined with a view to the future of mountain sports motivates the team to break new ground time and time again. The range includes functional clothing, accessories and shoes for women, men and kids as well as high-quality equipment for mountain hikers. From family tents to crampons, from sleeping mats to climbing rucksacks, the range includes everything for people who feel just as at home in the mountains as the Salewa team.
It all began in the 1930s with the unique Andean backpack and support for the Andean expedition of the later managing director Hermann Huber. Around 30 years later, Salwea became an international pioneer in mountain sports: the company set standards with the development and production of the hollow ice screw, which is still standard today. The 1980s are characterized by close collaboration with Reinhold Messner and Kurt Albert - new ideas are tested directly on expeditions and optimized on the basis of practical experience. The weight of the equipment plays an important role for mountain sports enthusiasts. In 1994, Salwea produces the world's lightest helmet, the Helium helmet. Half the weight combined with twice the resistance - Salwea wins the hearts of mountain sports enthusiasts with this innovation. Between 2010 and 2020, the mountain sports multispecialist expands internationally. The focus is always on people and the love of the mountains.
Social and environmental responsibility means a lot to the family business. Family and work go hand in hand - this mantra is anchored low in Salwea's DNA. Family friendliness is reflected, among other things, in the company's in-house kindergarten and extended maternity leave. Appreciation and health management, inclusion and equal opportunities are fundamental values in the company.
