Two enthusiastic Californian outdoor enthusiasts founded Western Mountaineering in the 1970s to provide themselves and their buddies with equipment that was difficult to buy at the time. Gary Schaezlein began by sewing sleeping bags for himself and his friends. This soon became a flourishing business. Their goal was to produce the best down sleeping bags in the world. The best material, sophisticated design and solid craftsmanship are what make the sleeping bags so high quality; even today, Western Mountaineering is still a small, fine and above all independent company that remains true to its roots. They have since expanded their range and now also offer down jackets, down pants, down vests and down booties, as well as a small range of accessories. They produce with the same fire as they did back then and always strive to give their best, remain true to themselves and offer an honest and fair product. Western Mountaineering only uses down with the best Cuin value. In addition, only materials that can withstand the elements, such as Microlite XP or Gore, are considered for the shell.
