You always need to take a repair kit on your travels – regardless of whether you’re riding a mountain bike or an e-bike, embarking on a multi-month cycling tour or setting off on a shorter adventure on two wheels. In the video, sales advisor Telmo explains what you should bear in mind.
A simple repair set is all you need if you’re just off on a brief cycling trip. Conversely, if your tour is going to last several days or weeks, your repair kit should include a tyre lever, patches, a spare tube and a spare tyre – and that’s not all.
In the video, sales advisor Telmo reveals what tools you need to have with you, how best to store the repair kit and which tool is his favourite to use.
It only takes a tiny hole in the inner tube to let all the air out. A patch will quickly make the area airtight again so you can continue your journey.
To patch up your tyre, take the wheel out of the fork. Then, use a tyre lever to lift out the tyre and remove the tube. If you can’t see the hole with the naked eye, pump up the tube so you can see or feel the hole better. Now, rough up the area around the hole and glue the patch over it. Some patches are self-adhesive, but others require you to apply a bit of glue or patching cement first.
