First aid kit for more safety when travelling

Whether it's an outdoor tour through the mountains or a camping trip with the family, injuries can unfortunately always happen. For this reason, you should always have a first aid kit with you so that you can treat wounds quickly and easily. This way, you are on the safe side if something does happen and can bridge the time until further help is possible.

First aid kits are available in many variants. There are small versions with only a few accessories, which are usually sufficient for minor injuries, as well as larger kits with even more equipment, such as a poison aspirator, which you only need in remote regions. You can also find hygiene sprays, survival blankets and many other items that complement a first aid kit here in the Transa Outdoor online shop.

First aid kit: weatherproof, small and handy

A first aid bag or first aid kit is indispensable for tours through remote terrain. To ensure that it fulfils its purpose on the go, it should meet a few criteria.

You can recognise a good first aid kit by the following features:

  • It is robust, weatherproof, washable and can withstand extreme weather conditions.
  • Thanks to the waterproof outer materials, all is safely protected from the wet.
  • The weight is low, so the set won't unnecessarily weigh down your luggage.
  • It can be stowed away in your backpack to save space.
  • The material (e.g. polyamide with a polyurethane coating) is made of
  • The material (e.g. polyamide with a polyurethane coating) is tear-resistant and cannot be damaged easily.
  • You will find numerous useful additional compartments and bottoms inside so that all items have their place and you can find the right accessories quickly in an emergency.
  • You can close the set securely, usually with an all-round zip.
  • A practical loop also allows you to attach it to your belt if it is a very small kit.
  • There are first aid kits that are already equipped with the most necessary accessories such as bandages, plasters, scissors and the like. Alternatively, you can fill an empty first aid kit individually with everything you need for your next tour.
  • If you are travelling to certain regions of the world where medical care is very poor or often unhygienic, a more comprehensive first aid kit is recommended. Surgical tools, extensive dressing material, infusion needles, respiratory caps as well as vinyl gloves, tweezers, safety pins and much more for hygienic first aid should be included in an extended first aid kit.

Even more emergency equipment for special emergencies

Whether spiders, slingers or scorpions, in some areas there is a danger to life after a bite or sting. You can prevent the venom from spreading in the body with a special vacuum aspirator. This is also useful for wasp and bee stings, for example to minimise the risk of an allergic shock.

An anti-bacterial hand cleansing gel is also essential for when you're out and about, allowing you to quickly and reliably remove germs from your hands and work hygienically with the first aid kit.

In areas with lots of mosquitoes, a cooling spray is also recommended to soothe the skin after insect bites. It is also pleasantly cooling for bruises.

A good survival blanket is also always recommended, for example to protect injured people from cooling down in mountain accidents. These blankets also reflect the sun's rays to protect against overheating.
