When travelling, space is always at a premium and you also want to save on weight. That's why there are microfibre towels! The biggest advantage of a functional towel is its light weight, small packing size and ability to dry quickly. Other names for functional towels are microfibre towel, travel towel, microfibre bath towel or trekking towel. These are always towels made of microfibre (also known as microfibre). Towels are usually made from cotton. However, these are comparatively heavy and take up a lot of space.
Cotton terry towels are unbeatable in the bathroom! They are cosy and soft and absorb a lot of moisture thanks to their special loop structure. But they also take a long time to dry again. This is usually not a problem at home - but it is when travelling! Anyone who has ever packed a damp terry towel in their bags or suitcase knows that the moisture soaks through all the things packed nearby.
Microfibre, on the other hand, dries very quickly. If the functional towel can dry outdoors, it is often completely dry after just 30 minutes. Cotton towelling cannot keep up with this. A large cotton bath towel can take hours to dry completely. A cotton thread is three times as thick as a microfibre thread, so the fine thread dries much faster, even if a yarn has been spun from several threads.
At Transa, you can get numerous towels made from microfibre. From bath towels to small microfibre towels - they are all much lighter than comparable cotton towels. Especially when weight plays an important role when travelling - when hiking, on motorbike tours or on bike tours - you will pay attention to every gram. This is particularly light with functional microfibre towels. But pay attention to the different qualities! There are also big differences in weight between microfibre towels of the same size. As is so often the case, the lighter towels also cost more.
A functional towel or microfibre towel is:
A classic cotton towel is made of terry cloth, a fabric with many small loops of thread. These loops increase the surface area and the towels can absorb significantly more moisture than a smooth cotton fabric. However, this high use of material also increases the weight of the towels enormously. An effect that plays a negative role when travelling.
A functional microfibre towel, on the other hand, is usually woven flat and yet absorbs four to six times its weight in moisture. An invaluable advantage if you are transporting your own luggage. The functional towel can be folded flat and often comes with a suitable transport bag so that the towel is well protected when travelling. The space you gain with such a great functional towel can be filled with other useful items.
Silky soft
You can't expect the fluffy soft feel of a terry towel with a functional towel. It is smooth and silky soft. Some microfibre towels also feel a little felty, cheap ones even feel wet. Good microfibre towels give you a pleasant feeling when drying off, they absorb moisture quickly and also dry again quickly.
From a hygiene point of view, microfibre towels are clearly superior to cotton towels. As they dry so quickly, bacteria and microorganisms hardly have time to multiply. A travel towel can therefore easily last a fortnight's travel without a washing machine. There are many advantages to using a functional towel when travelling. You won't want to be travelling without one again.
