Glacier loss doesn’t just threaten breathtaking landscapes, but also the very foundation of our lives. The scientific documentary film 'Downstream' by POW and Icebreaker explores this topic.
Come to the film screening and find out more about what you have seen in the panel discussion afterwards. The documentary film 'Downstream' shows the effects of glaciers melting – including what happens to rivers fed by glaciers, to our water resources and to biodiversity.
Protect Our Winters (POW) produced the science and film project together with the Icebreaker brand. Hydroecologist Juliette Becquet travels along three rivers: the Rhône (Switzerland and France), the Waitaki (New Zealand) and the Columbia River (Canada and USA). Along the way, she meets people in each location, including prominent figures from science, sport and agriculture. They show how they are dealing with the changes, which bold solutions they are implementing and how they are mitigating the effects of climate change. These astonishing and moving encounters resulted in the documentary film 'Downstream'.
Together with POW Switzerland and Icebreaker, we would like to invite you to a film screening in Zurich. After the film, Dr Mylène Jacquemart, lecturer at ETH’s Faculty of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering, will put the challenges and solutions from the film into a Swiss context. Together with Jan Schlink (President POW Switzerland) and Solène Klebanovas (Key Account Manager Icebreaker), they will also answer your questions on the topic in a discussion.
