Explora is Switzerland’s largest and most important platform for live reports and presentations on adventure, travel, ethnology and expeditions. Unlike in cinemas or BBC documentaries, the Explora audience can meet the speakers personally at the event and is there live when famous adventurers tell their stories.
Patagonia – 3,000 km through the wilderness to Tierra del Fuego

Tobias Schorcht quits his job as a teacher and sets out on a 3,000 km solo crossing of Patagonia. It takes him eight months to reach Tierra del Fuego. Along the way, he fights his way through primeval forests, avoids crevasses in the Patagonian Ice Field, learns the basics of self-sufficiency from locals and is suddenly face to face with a full-grown puma. It is THE wilderness adventure of this Explora season.
Long Way Home

Sonja Endlweber and Günter Wamser are riding through the western United States with four wild-born Mustangs and their female Charlie. After a 15-year journey across the continent from Patagonia to Alaska, this is the grand finale of the ‘adventure riders’ and their quest to bring their horses home. They ride through the Grand Canyon, encounter grizzlies, rattlesnakes and wild horses, and visit the loneliest ranch in Nevada.

He is a rebel, a loner, a legend. His biography includes paradisiacal South Sea islands and close encounters with primitive people, as well as pirate raids, imprisonment, cyclones and near-death experiences. But 40 years of travelling through 127 countries leave their mark. Explora presents the crazy (and politically incorrect) life story of the 83-year-old ‘Gangerl’, an extreme dropout who never strays from his path.
Freedom on four wheels

They have been travelling in their vintage truck for six years. Sabine Hoppe and Thomas Rahn have driven through Asia, followed the Pan-American Highway from Canada to Tierra del Fuego and crossed Africa. They experience initiation rites in Ethiopia, narrowly escape a civil war in Kyrgyzstan, accompany miners underground in Bolivia, sit around a fire with nomads and get caught in a snowstorm at over 4500 metres. It is the road trip adventure of the Explora season!
