Explora is Switzerland’s largest and most important platform for live reports and presentations on adventure, travel, ethnology and expeditions. Unlike in cinemas or BBC documentaries, the Explora audience can meet the speakers personally at the event and is there live when famous adventurers tell their stories.

His biography includes paradisiacal South Sea islands and close encounters with primitive people, as well as pirate raids, imprisonment, cyclones and near-death experiences. But 40 years of travelling through 127 countries leave their mark. Explora presents the crazy (and politically incorrect) life story of the 83-year-old ‘Gangerl’, an extreme dropout who never strays from his path.

They have been travelling in their vintage truck for six years. Sabine Hoppe and Thomas Rahn have driven through Asia, followed the Pan-American Highway from Canada to Tierra del Fuego and crossed Africa. They experience initiation rites in Ethiopia, narrowly escape a civil war in Kyrgyzstan, accompany miners underground in Bolivia, sit around a fire with nomads and get caught in a snowstorm at over 4500 metres. It is the road trip adventure of the Explora season!
