Robust, strong whetstone with two sides.
Two sides are often required to sharpen an axe. A coarse side (180 grit) for repairing damage and a fine side (600 grit) for honing. The ceramic grindstone from Gränsfors has both. The ceramic mixture makes the stone robust and strong. In contrast to natural sandstone, the grain of the artificial ceramic whetstone is consistent and precise. The stone is usually used with water, but you can also use it dry. The whetstone is round and flat with a beveled edge to protect against chipping. The fine side makes up two thirds of the thickness, as this is usually used and worn more. The whetstone is carefully packed in a tin. The practical rubber box also serves as a non-slip grip. You can find sharpening instructions in the "Book of Axes" from Gränsfors Bruk.
