Heavy axe for splitting heavy, knotty pieces of wood.
For particularly heavy woodwork, you hopefully have the Gränsfors Bruk splitting hammer. It is particularly suitable for splitting especially thick and knotty pieces of wood. The blade is curved at the cheek and forged and ground quite thin. The strong, cutting axe with its thin blade cuts lightly into the wood, pushing it apart and splitting it. Due to its neck, the axe can also be used to drive wedges, as the neck is longer than on the size splitting axe. The handle has a steel handle guard below the axe head and round notches at the lower end for a particularly good grip. The shape of the blade guard is designed to cover the cutting edge and the upper part of the neck. When transporting the splitting hammer, it prevents the axe head from cutting into the backpack. An axe is only as good as its smith - all axes made by Gränsfors Bruk are forged by hand. Ovako steel is used, which is obtained exclusively from recycled scrap metal. The steel used has been specially developed to produce the perfect axe head. The steel is not too hard, not too soft and not too flexible.
