A medium-hard freeride boot for wider feet that combines the downhill performance of an alpine boot with the walking comfort of a touring boot.
The K2 Mindbender 100 is the little brother of the Mindbender 130, with a softer flex (100 instead of 130), a slightly wider last (100 instead of 98 millimetres) and a cheaper inner shoe. It weighs 1700 grams (for size 26.5), but is made entirely of TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane). Polyurethane is the most popular material for ski boots as it offers a super progressive flex, is extremely durable and can be adapted to different feet with relative lightness (boot fitting). The Powerlite shell and LuxFit Pro Tour inner shoe can be thermally customized to your foot and the Mindbender 100 is quite soft at room temperature. But be careful, don't be misled when trying them on in the store, the TPU material becomes significantly harder in cold temperatures in the snow. You can also go on tours with this boot. The walking mechanism is efficient and the shaft rotation of 50 degrees is usually sufficient. You will certainly feel the slightly higher weight on the ascent. Nevertheless, with enough stamina and strength in your calves and thighs, extended tours are also possible. The advantages of the Mindbender 100 certainly come into their own when you switch the boot back to downhill mode. Precise, stable, with a pleasantly progressive flex and solid damping, it offers super ski control. Just like an alpine boot, but with less weight. Certainly one of the best 50/50 boots and perfect for freeriders and freetourers. The right shoe for wide freetouring or freeride skis.
