The ceramic depth filters remove bacteria, protozoa and other pathogens according to a simple principle: the mini-pores of the filter ceramic are smaller than the microorganisms mentioned. Depending on the degree of contamination of the water, these pores become clogged and the filter element must be cleaned mechanically. The best way to do this is to rinse it with a swimming pool until the bright, original color reappears. Each filter element loses a little material with each cleaning. The mass gauge indicates whether a filter element is used up and needs to be replaced. It's very simple: if the gauge passes over a filter element, the filter must be replaced.
