The Skwama by La Sportiva is not for beginners, but is trimmed for high-performance activities, coping with rock, indoor and even smooth slabs. Microfiber and calf chamois leather are used for the upper material. The heel is optimized for hooking (thanks to the "S heel shell"), as is the rubber protective edge on the toe. Comfortable yet precise velcro is used for the closure. The Vibram sole has been constructed in two pieces to offer more flexibility on the longitudinal axis and to allow you to make progress on slabs.
