Lightweight deployment unit for ABS airbags with carbon cartridge.
Less weight promises this release unit with the cartridge made of carbon. The unit weighs only 345 grams, which is more than 200 grams lighter than the steel version. The cartridge contains non-hazardous, non-flammable gas, like that found in circulating air. The internal pressure is 340 bar. Piercing the cartridge may only be done in the piercing unit of the ABS system. Any manipulation of the breech or the cartridge may cause an explosion. There is a risk of injury and death, also for bystanders! The cartridge is designed for a temperature range of -40°C to +50°C. Emptied cartridges can only be refilled by the manufacturer. The exchange for a full cartridge is only possible directly with us (a specialized dealer). Avoid mechanical stress such as dropping the cartridge. The activation handle contains a pressure capsule. By coupling the handle to the insertion sleeve on the carrying strap of the backpack and pulling the activation handle, the capsule is ignited. The explosion pressure flows through the pressure hose to the piercing unit. There, the filled cartridge is pierced by the needle, whose contents pass through pressure hoses to the two airbags, where they fill the airbags in combination with the filling and release unit. The filling time is approx. 2 - 3 seconds. The pressure capsule in the deployment handle can only be activated once. Therefore, each triggered handle, together with the cartridge must be returned to us and replaced.Note: It is absolutely necessary to check the cartridge regularly before use. You can do this by comparing the weight. On each cartridge the total weight without cap is indicated. By reweighing, this check can be made very easily. If there is a deviation of more than 5 grams, a cartridge may no longer be used. When using the activation handle, the pin with which you dock on the pressure hose must be firmly fixed. You can check this by gently pulling it with your fingers. Above all, however, there must be no red band visible on the pin, which always becomes visible when the handle has been triggered.
