Finally, the Maestrale lives up to its inner values aesthetically! But it doesn't just look strong, it is and remains comfortable, reliable and versatile. Thanks to Pebax Rnew, it even has a touch of sustainability.
The Maestrale has been redesigned for the 21/22 season, and not just in terms of color (for the better, if you like). The shoes are no longer made exclusively from the practical but not entirely ecological Grilamid (from EMS Chemie), but from the more sustainable "Pebax Rnew". Unlike conventional plastics, "Pebax Rnew" is not made from crude oil, but from castor oil. Over the life cycle of a Pebax Rnew product, around 30% CO2 can be saved compared to Pebax. Pebax Rnew is also a little lighter than Pebax. It is also dynamic, durable and can be injection-molded very thin, which absolutely meets the desired properties of a ski boot. But the Maestrale is also impressive in other respects. 60 degrees of shaft rotation, 1440 grams (for size 27), a comfortable 101mm last width and an adjustable shaft angle of 14, 16 or 18 degrees. The thermo-adaptable liner made of Intuition foam is specifically pre-shaped and can be molded to the individual foot thanks to heat adjustment in the oven. The feature clothing of the Scarpa Maestrale/Gea family is of course the instep buckle, which ensures that the foot always sits nicely in the heel, both when walking and riding. The buckle in the forefoot sits nicely on top of the instep, where it never gets in the way when walking. The pin inserts for binding types are Dynafit certified and the shell fits all frame bindings (ISO 9523). The rubber sole made of Vibram rubber and with a good profile gives you almost hiking boot qualities if you are on foot for the last few meters or a good part of the tour. The absolute mainstream shoe has therefore become even better and a little more sustainable. In addition, the shoe is equipped with a recco reflector, which can help with searching in an avalanche.
