The Expedition S from Silva impresses with its many functions and compact shape. The mirror bearing with bearing aperture enables precise course determination for direction finding over long lengths. It has a clinometer to determine the steepness of the terrain, a non-slip ring and rubber feet on the underside - so the compass sits firmly on the map. It also has a removable carrying strap with safety opening, luminous markings for navigation in the dark, a magnifying glass and map scales in millimetres and inches on the base plate. The removable distance tape with rulers is ideal for measuring larger distances. The integrated settings for magnetic misalignment (declination correction) provide additional safety.
