Handy mirror bearing compass to determine the direction even over long lengths. With millimeter scale, distance measurement for 1:25k and 1:50k and a lanyard with which you can measure the distance on the map.
The Silva Ranger S compass offers you the basic features you expect from a mirror compass. If your GPS device has no reception, it will still help you find the right route. The bearing compass makes your work in the field even more accurate. Thanks to the mirror, you can simultaneously take a bearing in the terrain and check whether the compass needle is aligned with the north arrow in the compass housing. This works perfectly in open terrain when you need to determine the direction over long distances. As the mirror must be tilted at an angle of 45 degrees, the Ranger S has a crosshair for this purpose, the horizontal line of which must be aligned with the center of the compass housing. The compass is made of a robust, hard-wearing material. The compass housing can be turned and adjusted easily and precisely thanks to the DryFlex rubber coating. Of course, you can also read the declination. The compass also has self-illuminating markings and map measuring scales in millimetres for the map scales 1:25,000 and 1:50,000. You can use the lanyard with scale to plan your route or quickly measure distances on your route. There are two scales on the lanyard - 1:25,000 and 1:50,000. As the lanyard is soft and flexible, it can be placed directly on the route on the map. The lanyard has a safety release - if you get stuck somewhere, it opens. So you can take the right bearings.
