These special pegs are made from a special plastic that remains elastic even at temperatures as low as minus 50 degrees outside and has excellent holding power straight in the snow, but also in sand. The material is also half as light as comparable metal pegs. Even when the warming sun hits these plastic pegs, they still hold firmly in the snow.
